Stray dogs everywhere!

I’m not sure why there are dogs everywhere, but it is clearly a problem in Naples. You may see only one, but likely their pack is close by. And when I say everywhere, I mean on every street corner, in every Parco, under the bus, on the freeway, etc.   This can be quite a challenge when you have two dogs who do not particularly do well with other dogs. hmmm

The streets are quite dirty here, yet diligent Mike has regularly ventured out for his runs.  He saw a guy one day running with a big stick and thought it was really funny.  The other day, Mike realized why this guy was running with a stick as a pack of german shepherd mixed dogs chased Mike for a bit on his run.  Thank god he is fast!

Today, we ventured out and drove down to the beach.  I’m sure I will talk about the beach later again when it is actually open.  Today, it was raining and everything was closed.  However, on our drive down the beach path we encountered a stray dog in the road.  It literally played chicken with our car and ran back in front of the bumper of our car biting at it and clearly it was a game.  We of course had to backtrack from the beach to leave and encountered the same dog again.  Literally, it would not let us pass it for more than 500 feet, trying to head us off until Mike just gunned the car and it jumped out of the way.

Sometimes these experiences are just LOL funny and sometimes you just run faster.

  1. Today, I took the dogs on a walk and thought I had found a stray-free route. Not the case. It is NOT funny at all when the stray german shepherd is chasing ME and the dogs! Not funny!
