I can plan and plan and have backup plans, and will still hit speed bumps that throw me off my feet.  This week, I had multiple speed bumps but am happy to say I am still standing…barely.

Speed Bump #1:On Friday, our housekeeper didn’t show up, with 2 days prior to tenant arrival.  After getting a last minute quote from Merry Maids of $600 to clean my house, I rolled up my sleeves and went to work.  12 hours, 3 fingernails, multiple callouses and 2.5 days later, my house was tenant ready.

Speed Bump #2: Somewhere between the house and the hotel, I lost my iPhone. Someone was looking over me because I inadvertently signed up for insurance on my phone, so only had to wait 4 days and $200 later to get a replacement one.

Speed Bump #3: I am a planner and forwarded all our mail and changed all our mailing addresses over a month ago upon receiving our new FPO mailing address.  This week we were informed they made a mistake on our box number.

Of course, all this happens (minus the actual loss of my phone) while my husband is out of town at a training class.  Given my lack of time to actually stress, I remained head-down and got through it all.  One week of insanity later, I managed to clean my house, transfer keys to my tenants, get a new phone and only went through one bottle of wine in the process.  Thanks to the many friends who made me dinner, let me ship my phone to their house, lent me a vacuum and step stool, and of course watched my kiddos.
